Sir: Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening neurologic emergency commonly associated with the use of antipsychotic medications. As a class, atypical antipsychotic agents have lower associated rates of extrapyramidal symptoms and are less likely to induce NMS as compared to conventional antipsychotics.
