Sir: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxietydisorder characterized by repetitive thoughts and/or ritualisticbehaviors.1 Approximately 2% to 3% of the general populationis diagnosed with OCD, with children more likely to be diagnosedthan adults.2 People with OCD often experience diminishedfunctioning in school, work, or community contexts,particularly in relation to social relationships.

One common observation made by investigators studyingOCD is that behaviors associated with this disorder are oftenexacerbated by stressful social situations.3
